Exploring Hollowware Forms in Jewellery and Silverware

Cut, score, fold, raise, forge, texture and solder are all words you are familiar with when working in your studio. Now combine and enlarge to create unique pieces of jewellery and hollowware during a week long course that will explore the use of the hollowware form in the production of jewellery and silverware. The class will focus on the many possibilities and opportunities to create unique jewellery and silver "objects d' art"  when working with the hollowware form. Students will have the opportunity to work on jewellery concepts including bracelets, pendants and lockets or explore large scale hollowware forms including sterling silver bowls, vessels, boxes, and sterling silver teapots during this "hands-on" workshop.

Master silversmith Kevin O'Dwyer will work with students from the initial concept to a finished piece during this one or two week workshop. A combination of skill and technique based demonstrations with one to one tutoring and problem solving will take place throughout the workshop. O'Dwyer will use both traditional and contemporary metalsmithing techniques as well as some "seat of the pants" variations.
